Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality reaches 87,000 people with sports rehabilitation

The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) has provided sports rehabilitation services to 87,426 individuals since 2019. Managed by the Directorate of Disabled Services, the program aims to support physical development, boost self-confidence, and encourage social interaction for people with disabilities.

The service is divided into two main categories: hydrotherapy and indoor sports. Hydrotherapy, conducted at the Beyoğlu ÖZGEM facility, utilizes water to improve muscle strength, joint mobility, balance, and coordination. Since 2019, 10,781 people have benefited from hydrotherapy through 27,498 sessions.

Indoor sports services are provided through individual and group training at ÖZGEM units. These sessions focus on enhancing physical capacity and motor skills. To date, 76,645 people have participated in indoor sports, totaling 305,475 sessions.
