İstanbul Modern opens 10th collection exhibition
İstanbul Modern has opened its 10th collection exhibition, titled ‘Aynı Mavinin Altında’ (Under the Same Blue), at the Dr. Nejat F. Eczacıbaşı Collection Exhibition Hall. The exhibition brings together 230 works by 119 artists from various geographies and periods, offering a new curatorial interpretation of the museum's accumulated collection.
The exhibition is structured into two main sections. The first part traces the historical development of modern and contemporary art in Turkey from the 1940s to the 2000s, covering everything from early abstract art to various forms of figurative narrative.
The second part focuses on art produced after the year 2000, organized under thematic headings. These include ‘War, Destruction, Displacement’, which explores migration and historical trauma; ‘Nature, Motif, Transformation’, focusing on ecological shifts and the relationship between humans and the environment; ‘Representation, Narrative, Tradition’, addressing gender and identity; and ‘City, Space, Layer’, examining urban memory and architecture.
