Turkish cities roll out free LGS exam preparation and counseling services

Municipalities across Turkey are offering free support for students preparing for the Liselere Geçiş Sistemi (LGS) exam. In Bor, Niğde, the municipality has renovated a building and equipped it with modern classrooms, smart boards and other materials to run a completely free LGS preparation course starting in August, aimed at pupils who cannot afford private tutoring.

In Bursa’s Kestel district, the local government and the provincial education directorate will host four days of free LGS preference counseling from 14‑17 July 2026. Experts including education specialist Murat Morkoç and career adviser Tolga Bahadır will assist students and parents in selecting suitable schools and planning future study paths.

Istanbul’s Metropolitan Municipality is also establishing free LGS Preference Counseling and Guidance Centres in Bakırköy and Kadıköy. From 13‑19 July, students and parents can receive daily, face‑to‑face advice from qualified guidance teachers on school selection, placement procedures, transfers and related questions.
