Istanbul murder trial involving Suzan Elik's family postponed
The second hearing in the murder trial of Suzan Elik has been postponed. The case involves the family of Yunus Elik, who is currently a fugitive wanted under a red notice for the fatal shooting of his wife.
According to the indictment, the murder was planned by Yunus Elik and his family following allegations regarding Suzan Elik’s personal relationships. On September 29, 2025, in the Çekmeköy district of Istanbul, Yunus Elik allegedly used a phone line registered to his father to lure his wife out of their home. He then followed her in a rented vehicle and shot her multiple times in the Soğukpınar neighborhood. Suzan Elik, a mother of three, succumbed to her injuries in the hospital on October 16, 2025.
During the proceedings at the Anadolu 27th High Criminal Court, detained defendants Yavuz Elik and İdris Elik, along with non-detained defendant Feriha Elik, requested acquittal and release. The court decided to maintain the detention of the accused and adjourned the trial until January 21.
