Istanbul police arrest woman with 64-year sentence during live stream

Police in the Esenler district of Istanbul arrested 33-year-old Gülüstan Kurt during a social media live stream. Kurt was wanted by various courts for a total of 64 years and 6 months of finalized prison sentences.

The arrest occurred in the Nene Hatun neighborhood after the Beyoğlu Patrol Teams identified her location and conducted surveillance. The moment of the raid was captured on the live stream, including warnings from viewers telling her, “Hürrem'in kapısı çalıyor, açma Hürrem” (Hürrem's door is knocking, don't open it, Hürrem).

Following her arrest, authorities discovered that Kurt has 215 criminal records, primarily for theft. Her charges include theft using special skills, theft within buildings, theft from public institutions, forgery of official documents, and making false statements to population directorates. She has been formally arrested and sent to prison.
