Nazir Ilgın arrested for killing Nilda Müge Şahin in Istanbul

Nazir Ilgın has been arrested and detained on charges of the intentional killing of Nilda Müge Şahin in Şişli, Istanbul. The incident occurred on August 5, when Ilgın allegedly shot Şahin with a firearm while she was waiting outside a pharmacy.

Investigations revealed that Şahin had filed a formal complaint against Ilgın nine days prior to the murder, resulting in a restraining order being served to him on August 2. Despite these legal measures, the attack took place. Ilgın, who has a prior criminal record involving intentional injury and threats, reportedly fled the scene on a scooter.

After a week on the run, Ilgın was apprehended in the Ayazağa Forest in Sarıyer. He was located after Şahin's sister noticed suspicious activity near the victim's grave. During his time in hiding, Ilgın reportedly survived by purchasing food and water from local markets. In his police statement, Ilgın claimed he was intoxicated at the time of the shooting and expressed intentions of self-harm if not caught. He has since been formally arrested for the crime of intentional killing against a woman.
