Istanbul Police Chief Selami Yıldız leads drone‑assisted drug raid in Şişli
Istanbul Police Chief Selami Yıldız inspected a drone‑supported operation in the Kuştepe neighbourhood of Şişli, aimed at curbing narcotics trafficking and improving public order. The raid involved Şişli district police, traffic, public‑order, counter‑terrorism and narcotics units. Vehicles flagged as suspicious were stopped, and drug‑sniffing dogs were used to search them. Officers also searched individuals' outer clothing and bags and performed General Information (GBT) checks on the persons detained.
During the operation, Chief Yıldız engaged with local residents and shopkeepers, explaining the police force’s activities across the city and distributing gifts to children. He emphasized the police’s commitment to safety, stating that they remain vigilant in “the dark streets” of the district.
