Istanbul Police Chief Selami Yıldız Oversees Drone‑Supported Narcotics Sweep in Şişli
Istanbul Police Chief Selami Yıldız visited Kuştepe neighbourhood in the Şişli district for a drone‑supported narcotics and public‑order operation. The raid involved Şişli district police, traffic, public‑order, anti‑terror and narcotics units. Vehicles flagged as suspicious were stopped, drug‑sniffing dogs were deployed, and persons and bags were searched, with General Information Collection (GBT) checks carried out.
Yıldız inspected the operation on site, spoke with local residents and shop owners, explained the police force’s activities across the city and handed out gifts to children. He emphasized his personal ties to Kuştepe, stating “I am a son of Şişli Kuştepe” and reiterated the police’s commitment to keeping “dark streets” safe.
The operation illustrates the use of drones and coordinated units to combat drug trafficking and maintain public order in Istanbul.
