Istanbul police raid Şişli nightclub, detain 12 foreign women without work permits
Police units from the Istanbul Public Order and Morality Bureau carried out a night‑time inspection at a nightclub on Cumhuriyet Street in Şişli’s Harbiye neighbourhood. The operation uncovered twelve women of foreign nationality who were employed as waitresses without work permits or social‑security registration. Both the women and the venue’s owner were placed in custody and later handed over to the prosecutor’s office. Administrative proceedings were also opened against the establishment.
Inspectors noted that tobacco products were being smoked inside a closed area of the club. Authorities said the raid was part of ongoing efforts to safeguard public order, curb illegal employment and ensure compliance with regulations in public entertainment venues.
