Istanbul police solve 4-year-old disappearance of Zeynep Yıldırım

Police in Istanbul have solved the four-year-old disappearance of Zeynep Yıldırım, whose body was discovered buried in a field in Esenyurt. Investigations revealed that Yıldırım, who went missing after leaving a hospital without permission in September 2022, was murdered between October 4 and October 10, 2022.

Tracking phone signals led investigators to the residence of Fethi Dağlı in Esenyurt. Dağlı, who was already serving time for the 2024 murder of Erva Raziye Asar, confessed to the killing of Yıldırım. His confession led police to the location of her remains.

Further investigation into Dağlı’s history has identified him as a serial killer. Authorities discovered he was also responsible for the 2007 murder of Ahmet Karadağ in Esenyurt. Following the discovery, police conducted simultaneous operations in Istanbul and Sinop, resulting in the detention of six suspects believed to be connected to the crimes.
