Istanbul police fine 248 drivers in drone‑assisted traffic inspections
From 3–5 July 2026, Istanbul’s Başakşehir district police conducted drone‑supported traffic checks. The operation inspected 650 people, 296 vehicles and 120 motorcycles, resulting in 248 drivers receiving administrative fines totaling 613,087 lira for violations such as driving without a licence, missing plates, illegal accessories, and lack of seat‑belt use. Two vehicles were also removed from service. Police said the checks will continue.
The inspections were carried out by the Istanbul Traffic Inspection Branch together with public order units, employing General Information Scanning of passengers as part of the procedure.
