Istanbul police rescue man held captive in container

Police in Istanbul rescued a 21-year-old man, Doğukan M., who was kidnapped in Sancaktepe and held captive in a container in the Kartal district. Following a tip-off and intelligence work, Special Operations units conducted a raid on the container where the victim had been subjected to physical abuse.

The investigation revealed that the kidnapping was allegedly motivated by a dispute involving fraud. Suspects claimed that Doğukan M. had befriended a 24-year-old individual with a mental disability, A. K., and manipulated them into providing gifts and items valued at approximately 120,000 TL. The suspects stated they kidnapped the man to seek retribution for these alleged losses.

While the victim was rescued, legal proceedings have also been initiated against him regarding the allegations of defrauding the disabled individual. Five suspects were apprehended during the operation; three were referred to the courthouse, while two minors were transferred to the Juvenile Branch.
