Istanbul police seize $102k fake ATM cash and detain 13 ISIS suspects

The Istanbul Metropolitan Police Cyber Crimes Unit uncovered a network that injected counterfeit 50‑dollar notes into ATMs and cash‑counting machines across six provinces. Investigators traced $102,750 in fake currency, which was later withdrawn as Turkish lira. Simultaneous raids were carried out in Istanbul, Artvin, Bursa, Edirne, Samsun and Diyarbakır, resulting in the arrest of nine suspects who had used hats, glasses and masks to conceal their identities.

In a separate anti‑terror operation, Istanbul police raided multiple addresses this morning and detained 13 foreign‑national individuals suspected of affiliation with the ISIS extremist group. Digital material was seized from the locations, and the detainees were transferred to the Terrorism Investigation Division for questioning. Both investigations remain ongoing as authorities continue to analyse the seized evidence.
