Sarallar organization assassination plot against Sedat Şahin foiled
Istanbul police have dismantled an assassination plot targeting Sedat Şahin, orchestrated by the Sarallar Armed Criminal Organization. The operation began following the arrest of three suspects in Kadıköy on August 31, 2026, who attempted to flee from a police checkpoint.
Subsequent intelligence work led authorities to a landscape area in Beykoz, which served as a weapons cache. Using detector dogs, police discovered a significant arsenal hidden among trees and flowerpots. Seized items include one rocket launcher, three anti-tank rocket munitions, two Kalashnikov rifles, and two MP5 automatic weapons, along with various magazines and ammunition.
Investigators determined that the weapons were intended for the attack and had been moved into a container just one day prior to the discovery. The plot was allegedly directed by Yakup Kerem Saral, a leader of the Sarallar organization who is currently a fugitive abroad. Nineteen suspects, including seven Iranian nationals, have been taken into custody as part of the ongoing investigation.
