Istanbul investigation uncovers massive hidden camera and Telegram video sale network

An investigation in Bakırköy, Istanbul, has uncovered a massive illegal surveillance network involving the recording and sale of private footage. The probe began after four women reported being recorded without consent at the Fatma Özçalışkan Private Metfa Polyclinic.

Authorities identified a Telegram archive containing approximately 15,000 videos. Digital forensics revealed that the footage was not limited to the beauty center; the archive also includes recordings from clothing store fitting rooms, hotel rooms, bungalows, and Airbnb rentals. Investigators found that cameras were concealed inside devices disguised as PIR motion sensors.

Three suspects have been arrested: beauty center operator Fatma Özçalışkan, security system installer Emrah Selim Cansever, and Abdullah Çatalbaş, who was identified as the manager of the 'Secret TV +18' Telegram channel used to distribute the content. Cansever claimed the system was compromised by a cyberattack, but investigators noted contradictions in his communications. The Ministry of Health has suspended the clinic's operations.
