Turkey transit updates: Trabzon expands bus fleet and Istanbul implements road closures

In Trabzon, the Metropolitan Municipality has added 10 new buses to its fleet, bringing the total number of vehicles to 174. Mayor Ahmet Metin Genç stated that the expansion aims to provide more comfortable and secure public transportation while reducing traffic congestion by encouraging use over individual vehicles.

In Istanbul, significant traffic disruptions are expected due to the ‘Yeşilay and 78 Event Bicycle Tour’. The Istanbul Police Department has announced road closures in the Fatih, Beyoğlu, and Beşiktaş districts. Key closures include the Galata Bridge and various streets in the affected areas. Authorities have provided alternative routes, such as the Unkapanı Bridge and Tarlabaşı Boulevard, to assist drivers.

Additionally, a new payment system has been introduced for minibuses in Istanbul. Following a pilot program in Pendik, contactless credit card payments are now being implemented to accommodate passengers who prefer not to carry cash.
