Istanbul social housing rental applications begin

Applications have opened for the first phase of a social rental housing project in Istanbul, managed by TOKİ under the coordination of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change. The initial stage involves 1,071 housing units distributed across 12 districts, including Ataşehir, Sancaktepe, Ümraniye, Üsküdar, Maltepe, Tuzla, Kartal, Başakşehir, Gaziosmanpaşa, Beyoğlu, Güngören, and Arnavutköy.

Rental prices vary by unit size: 1+1 units start at 10,000 TL, 2+1 units range from 12,000 to 17,000 TL, 3+1 units range from 15,000 to 18,000 TL, and 4+1 units start at 18,000 TL. In Arnavutköy's Baklalı neighborhood, 90 units are specifically designated for this phase. For the first 12 months, rental rates will remain fixed, with subsequent increases based on the CPI (TÜFE) rate.

Applications must be submitted via e-Devlet by September 25. Eligibility criteria include being a Turkish citizen over 18, being married, not owning a registered home, not having purchased property in the last five years, and having a monthly household income below 100,000 TL. Successful applicants will be selected via a lottery system, with deliveries planned for October. The long-term goal of the project is to provide 15,000 rental social housing units across Istanbul to stabilize the rental market and assist low-income citizens.
