Istanbul Technical University campus fire triggers student evacuation

A fire broke out at a fast food outlet located near the Central Lecture Hall A building at Istanbul Technical University (ITU) Ayazağa Campus. The blaze caused significant smoke, leading to brief panic among students in the surrounding buildings and open areas.

Security personnel successfully evacuated approximately 200 students attending a private organization in a nearby building within one minute. As a precaution, bystanders in nearby cafes were also directed to the opposite side of the street to avoid potential smoke inhalation.

Firefighting and police teams responded to the scene. To avoid disrupting a foreign language proficiency exam being held in an adjacent building, emergency responders entered the campus without using sirens. No deaths or injuries were reported, and authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
