Istanbul to host 9th International Mediation Conference

Istanbul is set to host the 9th International Mediation Conference this coming Friday and Saturday. Under the theme “New Partnerships and Horizons for Peace: Mediation in a Changing World,” the event is sponsored by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.

The conference will bring together diplomats, international organization representatives, academics, and research experts to discuss current challenges in mediation and develop innovative approaches for conflict prevention. Key sessions will focus on reopening diplomatic channels, humanitarian aid efforts in conflict zones, and transitioning from conflict prevention to sustainable peace.

Since 2012, Turkey has hosted these conferences, establishing them as a prominent international platform for preventive diplomacy. Turkey currently holds co-chair positions for the Friends of Mediation groups within the United Nations, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.
