Istanbul to host global e-commerce summit with $6.1 trillion trade volume

More than 40 global e-commerce platforms, representing a combined trade volume of $6.1 trillion, will gather in Istanbul for the Istanbul Global E-Export Summit (IGEXX 2026) from September 3-5.

Coordinated by the Ministry of Trade in collaboration with the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) and the Electronic Commerce Operators Association (ETİD), the summit aims to connect Turkish producers, brands, and exporters with international marketplaces. Participating platforms include major entities such as Amazon, Alibaba, Walmart Marketplace, eBay, TikTok Shop, SHEIN, Tmall, and JD.com, among others.

Mehmet Ali Kılıçkaya, Director General of Exports at the Ministry of Trade, emphasized the strategic importance of market diversification. While approximately 40% of Turkey's exports currently go to the European Union, the summit focuses on strengthening international competitiveness and exploring high-potential opportunities in Asian markets, specifically China, Indonesia, and Malaysia.
