Istanbul woman assaulted during traffic dispute in Şişli

A traffic dispute in the Şişli district of Istanbul escalated into a physical altercation at a shopping mall entrance on Tuesday, September 15. The incident began when a driver, identified as E. B., stopped her vehicle to switch seats with a male passenger.

Buket A., a 31-year-old driver waiting behind the vehicle, honked her horn after being stuck in the middle of the road due to a green light for oncoming traffic. This prompted an aggressive response from E. B., who allegedly directed insults and profanities at Buket A.

The verbal argument turned physical when E. B. reached into Buket A.’s car window to attack her. During the confrontation, the assailant reportedly threatened Buket A., stating, “You can’t film me like that, I’ll break your head.” The assailant also attempted to seize the victim's mobile phone while she was recording the incident.

Buket A. stated she intends to pursue full legal complaints, noting that she could have been in the vehicle with her child at the time. The confrontation was captured on mobile phone video, showing the assailant eventually leaving the scene on foot while her male companion drove away in their vehicle.
