Istanbul tramway harassment: Medical intern reports incident

A medical intern reported being sexually harassed on the T1 Kabataş-Bağcılar tram line in Istanbul. The victim stated that they felt unwanted contact on their hip and observed the suspect quickly withdrawing their hand upon being turned toward.

After the incident at the Yusufpaşa stop, the intern recorded the suspect on a mobile phone and shared the experience on social media to prevent the individual from targeting others. The victim also noted that another young woman appeared to have been targeted by the same individual shortly before them.

Following the social media coverage, Metro Istanbul officials contacted the intern. The transit authority noted that passengers are encouraged to report harassment or emergencies via onboard communication systems or to station personnel.
