Istanbul vehicle with Presidential insignia involved in accident

A criminal complaint has been filed following a traffic accident in the Maslak neighborhood of Istanbul’s Sarıyer district involving a vehicle displaying Presidential insignia and flashing lights.

The complainant alleges that on the night of September 5, a vehicle marked with a Presidential crest and an official vehicle card struck their automobile. According to the prosecutor's statement, three individuals were in the vehicle, and the complainant claims that the actual driver was removed from the scene by individuals in civilian clothing, whom the complainant believes were plainclothes police officers.

Furthermore, the complainant alleges that the individuals involved smelled strongly of alcohol and that requests for a sobriety test were not fulfilled. While the vehicle displayed official markings, there has been no official confirmation regarding whether the car was formally assigned to the Presidency or how the markings were being utilized. The complainant has filed a formal complaint citing various allegations including potential interference and misconduct.
