Istanbul witnesses multiple violent brawls and shootings, dozens injured

In Istanbul's Pendik district, a dispute between two families quickly turned into a violent clash involving sticks, knives and a firearm. Twelve people were wounded, one seriously, and five suspects were taken into custody after police intervened.

A separate incident occurred in the Esenyurt neighbourhood where members of two families engaged in a street fight with clubs. Dozens of participants faced off until police arrived and restored order.

The city has also seen a series of organised‑crime related shootings targeting entertainment venues. A nightclub in Nişantaşı was shot at on 30 May, injuring three people, and a second attack on 1 June at the same venue left a security guard wounded. Subsequent gunfire at a venue in Göktürk further heightened public fear. Authorities have detained six suspects and are investigating links to known criminal groups.

These events underline a surge in street and organised violence in Istanbul, prompting increased police presence and public concern.
