Istanbul’s Bağcılar District Reviews New Alev Alatlı Library and Theater
State Theatres General Manager Tamer Karadağlı visited Bağcılar, Istanbul, together with AK Party Istanbul provincial chairman Abdullah Özdemir and district mayor Yasin Yıldız to inspect the under‑construction Alev Alatlı City Library and Theater. He toured the Nurullah Genç Library and Study Center, the Children’s Library, and the nearby Hikmet Barutçugil Fine Arts High School, praising the modern design, lighting and sound systems. Karadağlı said the venue will receive full support and announced a season‑opening performance on 1 October.
The seven‑story building will cover 9,407 m², with 6,314 m² for the library (capacity of about 200,000 books) and 3,093 m² for the theater, which includes a 326‑seat hall, conference rooms, a mini‑cinema, galleries and workshop spaces. Mayor Yıldız highlighted the district’s plan to equip Bağcılar with 18 libraries, noting that four have already opened and the Alev Alatlı complex will open soon.
