Istiqlal Party to challenge Fahs Anjra election results

The Istiqlal Party is preparing to challenge the legislative election results in the Fahs Anjra constituency before the Constitutional Court. The party cites irregularities during the vote counting and tallying processes, specifically noting that its representatives were not provided with all the official voting minutes from the province's polling stations.

The dispute is particularly significant due to the narrow margin of victory in the district. The candidate for the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM), Abdessalam Echlaf, secured the seat with 4,904 votes, narrowly defeating the Istiqlal candidate, Driss Saour Mansouri, who received 4,892 votes—a difference of only 12 votes.

In a related development, the Moroccan League for the Defense of Human Rights in Fahs Anjra reported that several candidates and list representatives were denied copies of the voting minutes despite being present during the counting process. The League emphasized that providing these documents is a legal requirement intended to ensure transparency and allow candidates to verify results.

The Ministry of Interior has stated that the final election results match the previously announced provisional results and that copies of the minutes have been deposited with the Constitutional Court. The Ministry also noted that candidates may review the minutes in accordance with legal provisions and timelines.
