Istituto Alcide Cervi hosts international conference on democratic crises
An international conference titled ‘Democracy, its enemies and its challenges’ concluded at Casa Cervi in Gattatico, Italy. The event sought to investigate the origins of the crisis facing liberal democracies and explore potential responses in an era marked by autocracies, technocracies, and turboliberalism.
Following initial sessions in Marzabotto, the final stage of the conference featured historians, political scientists, and scholars examining democratic stability across various regions. Discussions included the political landscape in Germany, the state of democracy in the United States, and the complexities of Eastern European democracies.
Additional sessions focused on France, the European Union, and the fragile democratic structures within Latin America. The event was organized by several institutions, including the Municipality of Marzabotto, ANPI, the Ferruccio Parri National Institute, and the Alcide Cervi Institute.
