Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato and Poste Italiane acquire PagoPA for up to €500 million

The Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato (IPZS) and Poste Italiane S.p.A. have completed the acquisition of the capital of PagoPA S.p.A., with IPZS taking a 51 % stake and Poste Italiane a 49 % stake. The transaction, valued at a maximum of about €500 million in fixed and variable components, received approval from the Autorità Garante della Concorrenza e del Mercato on 28 July.

PagoPA operates the national platform for electronic payments to public administrations and public service providers in Italy. Following the acquisition, IPZS, as the majority shareholder, will exercise exclusive control over PagoPA, aligning the payment system with the strategic interests of the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance.
