Istria County Assembly declares new veterans day and reviews polytechnic audit

The Istria County Assembly in Pazin has unanimously adopted a decision to proclaim December 16 as the Day of Croatian Veterans of Istria. This date marks the 1991 departure of the last Yugoslav People's Army (JNA) members from the Muzil military complex in Pula, signaling the end of the JNA withdrawal from the region.

Additionally, the Assembly reviewed the 2024 final audit report for the Istrian Polytechnic. While the extraordinary audit did not find evidence of embezzlement, misappropriation of funds, or personal enrichment, it issued a negative opinion. The negative finding was due to an external accounting service retroactively unlocking a business year that had already been closed. The audit was prompted by previous allegations regarding excessive costs and legal proceedings at the institution.
