Istrian County Assembly session erupts in verbal dispute

A session of the Istrian County Assembly descended into a heated verbal confrontation between council members Sanja Radolović of the SDP and Irena Peruško. The dispute began during a discussion regarding an audit of the Istrian Polytechnic.

Peruško had criticized Marko Ferenac, the head of Vižinada, for calling for the resignation of Dean Daglas Korace while allegedly failing to take responsibility for audit irregularities within his own municipality. In response, Radolović accused Peruško of nepotism, alleging that Peruško voted for her son to join the Youth Council and maintains significant influence within the Club of Joint Councilors, noting that her son was the only one granted the floor during the session.

The situation escalated when Radolović used the term ‘incest’ to describe the perceived preferential treatment. Peruško reacted with outrage, and the intensity of the exchange forced Assembly President Valter Flego to declare a five-minute recess to allow tensions to cool. Flego later issued an apology to spectators for the inappropriate language used during the session.
