Istrian Highway Segment Opens Early as Slovenia Begins New Road Branch
On 30 July, BINA Istra opened the first four kilometres of a new full‑profile highway section from the Učka Tunnel to Matulji in Croatia, six months ahead of schedule. Traffic will be limited to 70 km/h while construction continues to the Matulji junction. Christian Santaleza, technical director of BINA Istra, said: “We are extremely pleased to open the first kilometres of the new section six months before the deadline, which is especially meaningful during the peak tourist season.”
In Slovenia, work has started on the first phase of a new branch of the South Road in Izola. The new segment will connect the entrance roundabout at the Izola‑Kajuhova ulica junction, aiming to relieve congestion on the Industrial Road and the main city access route.
