Istroveneto Dialect Theater Workshop Engages Children in Croatia
A theater initiative titled “Voio recitar con ti in CI” is being held at the Comunità degli Italiani in Istria to help preserve the Istroveneto dialect. Actress Petra Bernarda Blašković supports the project, though she does not appear onstage, while actor Luka Juričić assists with the workshops.
The workshops link spoken lines to specific bodily gestures, using kinesthetic memory to help participants of all ages memorize the script. The program culminates in a performance of the dialect version of Branko Čopić’s story “Martin el porcospin,” scheduled for July 31 with sessions for children at 10:00 a.m. and for adults and teenagers at 7:30 p.m.
