Istvan Kovacs omitted from SuperLiga round following derby errors

Referee Istvan Kovacs has been excluded from the ninth round of the Romanian SuperLiga following controversial officiating during the derby match between FCSB and Dinamo. Kyros Vassaras, president of the Central Commission of Referees (CCA), made the decision, which is viewed by some as a measure to protect the official from further scrutiny.

The officiating errors have sparked significant tension between the Professional Football League (LPF) and the CCA. Justin Stefan, General Secretary of the LPF, has called for increased transparency, stating that clubs expect a high level of service and clear explanations rather than excuses.

Other figures, including Mihai Stoica, have also criticized the current state of refereeing and the leadership of the CCA, highlighting a lack of effective dialogue between the league and the officiating body.
