István Kollai visits Transylvania to signal new Hungarian government policy

István Kollai, the Deputy State Secretary responsible for Hungarians living abroad in the new Hungarian government, has conducted a series of visits to Transylvania to signal a shift in policy toward ethnic Hungarian communities in Romania.

During the Kolozsvári Magyar Napok (Cluj Hungarian Days), Kollai delivered a message from Minister Zoltán Tarr, aiming to bridge the perceived distance between the Tisza government and the political elites in Transylvania. The visit follows a period of tension, including concerns regarding the RMDSZ's acquisition of a former radio network.

Kollai continued his tour in Gyergyószentmiklós for the Székely Land Equestrian Festival. There, local organizers emphasized a desire for cooperation and brotherhood rather than political conflict. Kollai expressed his intention to move beyond ceremonial visits, stating that while holidays demonstrate unity, everyday life should focus on working together with local leaders and communities.
