Isuzu expands Forward truck lineup with wheel detachment detection
Isuzu Motors has expanded its medium-duty Forward truck lineup and enhanced safety features, with sales commencing on October 22. The update includes new specialized chassis models, such as all-wheel drive, fire engine, and mixer truck configurations, powered by the 4HK1 diesel engine.
A key safety advancement is the standardization of a wheel detachment early warning system on all Forward models with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of 14.5 tons or more. Developed using Sumitomo Rubber Industries’ ‘Sensing Core’ technology, the system analyzes wheel speed and CAN data to detect loosening wheel nuts during operation. When an abnormality is detected in the rear axle tires, the system alerts the driver via visual displays and audible buzzers to prevent potential accidents.
