Isuzu expands remanufacturing to refrigerated van equipment

Isuzu Motors has announced an expansion of its remanufacturing (remani) initiatives to include vehicle bodywork and specialized equipment. In collaboration with Toprelec, a specialist in refrigerated and frozen transport equipment, the company is working toward the commercialization of remanufactured refrigerated and frozen vans.

Previously, Isuzu’s remanufacturing efforts focused on drivetrain components, such as engines and transmissions, to restore lease-up vehicles to a condition comparable to new vehicles. This new partnership extends these processes to the refrigeration units and containers themselves. Through Toprelec’s “remake business,” worn components in refrigeration systems are serviced or replaced, and containers are cleaned and refurbished.

This initiative aims to support a circular economy and carbon neutrality by reducing CO2 emissions compared to new vehicle manufacturing and promoting resource efficiency. By utilizing remanufactured units, customers can continue to use existing cabs, bodywork, and branding, extending the functional lifecycle of their commercial vehicles.
