ISUZU launches D-MAX pickup in Mexico to challenge established models

ISUZU Motors Mexico introduced the 2027 ISUZU D-MAX pickup, a 3.0‑liter turbo‑diesel vehicle delivering 188 hp and 332 lb‑ft of torque. The model is offered in SE, HL and DX trims with 4×2 or 4×4 drivetrains, manual or automatic transmissions, and an ADAS safety suite that includes adaptive cruise control and autonomous emergency braking. Targeted at construction, agriculture, logistics and last‑mile distribution, the D-MAX aims to capture a share of the Mexican pickup segment, which accounted for 16.9 % of light‑vehicle sales in the first half of 2026.

The launch positions ISUZU against established players such as the Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger, Nissan Frontier, Volkswagen Amarok and Mazda BT‑50. Executives at the event included Yoshihiko Watanabe, President of ISUZU Motors Mexico, Yohei Kato, General Manager of the LCV Business Department at ISUZU Motors Limited, and Guillermo Rosales, President of the Mexican Association of Automotive Distributors (AMDA). The vehicle will be sold with a five‑year or 150,000‑km warranty and benefits from ISUZU’s global engineering pedigree, which the company says spans more than a century of diesel‑technology development.
