ITA Airways celebrates five years of operations
ITA Airways marked its fifth anniversary of operations, which began on October 15, 2021, following the takeover of Alitalia. The airline held celebrations in Rimini and Amsterdam to recognize its growth and industry partnerships.
Since its inception, the carrier has expanded its fleet significantly. CEO Joerg Eberhart noted that the fleet has grown from an initial 52 aircraft to 109, with a heavy emphasis on new-generation models including the A220, A320neo, A321neo, A330-900neo, and A350-900. The airline has transported over 78 million passengers during this five-year period.
The company is shifting its strategic focus toward long-haul expansion, noting that more than half of its revenue is generated from long-haul flights. Key target markets include North America, South America, and Asia. Recent developments include the launch of a new route to Houston and a strategic integration with the Lufthansa Group and Star Alliance to enhance its international network.
