Airlines announce major route expansions and service restorations
Major airlines are announcing significant route expansions and service restorations across Europe, North America, and Asia.
In Italy, ITA Airways is increasing connectivity between Rome Fiumicino and Tel Aviv with a third daily flight starting October 25, 2026. The carrier is also launching a new direct service between Verona and Rome Fiumicino in March 2027. Meanwhile, regional developments include Ryanair confirming its Summer 2027 schedule for Crotone and Aeroporti di Puglia initiating a call for interest to develop passenger flights at the Grottaglie airport, despite local opposition regarding the commercial policy.
Delta Air Lines is expanding its European presence for 2027, adding nonstop service from Boston to Venice and Detroit to Athens, alongside its first nonstop route from Austin to Paris. Delta is also increasing its Italian operations, including a new Venice-Boston route and daily flights from Milan Malpensa to Boston.
In Asia, Air India will resume direct flights between Delhi and Tel Aviv on December 1, 2026. The airline will operate five weekly flights using Boeing 777 aircraft, restoring a key link that had faced multiple disruptions due to regional security concerns.
