ITA Airways launches Large Dog On Board cabin service for big dogs

ITA Airways announced a new "Large Dog On Board" service that will allow passengers to travel with dogs weighing up to 30 kg in the cabin on selected domestic flights. The service starts on 3 August 2026 and is limited to a few routes identified as Large Dog flights.

Each qualifying flight can accommodate a maximum of two dogs: one between 10 kg and 15 kg and another between 15 kg and 30 kg. Seat allocation depends on the aircraft type – on Airbus A220 the larger dog sits in the first row left window seat, while on Airbus A319/A320 the larger dog also occupies the first‑row left window seat and the smaller dog sits in the rear left window seat. Dogs must wear a muzzle, collar, leash and a crash‑tested harness that attaches to the seat belt, and they travel on a dedicated floor mat.

Availability is subject to aircraft configuration, the presence of other animals and operational conditions, and the service requires prior verification by the airline.
