ITA BiH Board fails to adopt border crossing staffing rulebook

The Board of Directors of the Indirect Taxation Authority (ITA) of Bosnia and Herzegovina failed to adopt amendments to its internal organization rulebook during an electronic session on August 31. The failure to reach a consensus prevented the filling of staff positions at ten border crossings, a move intended to improve efficiency following an international agreement between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia.

Zijad Krnjić, a board member appointed by the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, was the sole vote against the amendments. Krnjić argued there was no urgency for the changes and requested that the agenda include decisions regarding the settlement of Value Added Tax (VAT) fund distributions between the entities. He specifically called for the resolution of debts owed by Republika Srpska to the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
