ITA Carolina Regional tennis tournament sees UNC and Duke advancements

The ITA Carolina Regional tennis tournament saw significant performances from University of North Carolina and Duke University athletes.

At the University of North Carolina, Ian Mayew and Chris Xu advanced to the singles semifinals. Mayew defeated Matisse Farzam of Clemson in straight sets, while Xu secured a three-set victory over Henrik Bladelius. Both players are positioned to earn berths to the 2026 NCAA Singles Championship. Additionally, the doubles pairing of Mayew and Kase Schinnerer reached the semifinals following a win against NC State.

Duke University's men's tennis team also saw competitive results. Freshman Yannick Alexandrescou reached the singles quarterfinals after securing three victories. Saahith Jayaraman reached the Round of 16 after upsetting the top seed, Romain Gales. In doubles, the duo of Dylan Long and Sebastian Eie advanced to the Round of 16 before being eliminated by NC State.
