Major sporting events scheduled across Chile, Argentina, and Dominican Republic
Major sporting events are scheduled across Latin America, including several marathons and motorsport competitions.
In Chile, the Itaú Maratón de Viña 2026 will take place on October 4, featuring approximately 12,000 runners. The event introduces a new start and finish line at Playa del Deporte and a redesigned 42K single-lap circuit.
In Argentina, the Maratón de Buenos Aires is set for September 20, 2026, with nearly 17,000 participants expected. Preparations include an Expo Running in Saavedra for kit collection. Additionally, the Autódromo Oscar y Juan Gálvez is preparing for the return of MotoGP in April 2027, with ticket pre-sales for Banco Ciudad clients starting October 1. While Argentina remains outside the official 2027 Formula 1 calendar, there is potential for a Grand Prix in 2027 if cancellations occur, or more concretely in 2028 as existing contracts expire.
In the Dominican Republic, the ninth edition of the Maratón de Santo Domingo will be held on October 18. The event expects over 5,000 runners from more than 45 countries and aims to promote sports tourism through routes covering the Colonial Zone and the Malecón.
