Itaberaba families risk losing electricity benefits due to registration errors

Over 1,500 families in Itaberaba, Bahia, are at risk of losing their Social Electricity Tariff (Tarifa Social de Energia Elétrica) due to registration discrepancies. Recent data shows 1,542 consumer units in the municipality are currently flagged as disqualified because of inconsistencies between information held by Neoenergia Coelba and the Single Registry (CadÚnico).

Across the state of Bahia, more than 300,000 families in 415 municipalities face similar risks. To maintain the benefit, which provides free electricity for the first 80 kWh consumed monthly, families must ensure their CadÚnico information is updated, their registered address matches the utility provider's records, and the electricity bill is in the name of a family member listed in the registry.

While the number of at-risk clients in Itaberaba saw a slight decrease from 1,558 in July to 1,542, the city remains among those in Bahia with the highest number of pending registrations. Other affected municipalities include Ipirá, Iaçu, Ruy Barbosa, and Boa Vista do Tupim.
