Itabirito opens 60 spots for sustainability hackathon

The municipality of Itabirito has opened 60 free spots for the Hackathon Estação Futuro 2026. The three-day event will take place from September 25 to 27 at the Instituto Federal de Minas Gerais (IFMG) campus in Itabirito.

Under the theme ‘Innovative solutions for a sustainable and intelligent Itabirito’, the hackathon aims to bring together multidisciplinary teams to develop solutions for challenges related to sustainability, territorial development, and innovation. According to Patrícia Nonato, the municipal secretary of Economic Development, the chosen challenges are linked to discussions regarding the impacts of mining in the region.

Participants must be over 16 years old. The program includes workshops on Lean Canvas and MVP, mentorship, and final project presentations. Registration is free and available until September 18.
