Itabuna expands specialized SUS healthcare services
The City of Itabuna has expanded access to specialized otorhinolaryngology (ENT) consultations and exams through the Unified Health System (SUS). This expansion is being implemented via the hiring of Clínica CESAI (Centro de Saúde Auditiva de Itabuna Ltda.) under the federal government’s 'Mais Acesso a Especialistas' (PMAE) program.
The initiative aims to facilitate diagnosis and monitoring of hearing conditions and upper airway issues, including the nasopharynx and oropharynx. The service model utilizes Integrated Care Offers (OCI), which organize consultations and diagnostic evaluations in coordination with Primary Health Care, following municipal SUS regulation flows.
These services are available to residents of Itabuna and partner municipalities in the southern region of Bahia. The Clínica CESAI is located in the Góes Calmon neighborhood at the Centro Médico Odontológico Doutora Ana Lúcia Andrade. Additionally, the city continues to expand ophthalmology services through the same federal program at Hospital de Base Luís Eduardo Magalhães and Hospital de Olhos Ruy Cunha.
