Itaituba police arrest man for attempted rape of a teenager

An 18-year-old man was arrested in the Jardim do Ouro community in Itaituba, Pará, on Wednesday morning following an attempted rape of a 16-year-old girl.

According to the Military Police, the victim accepted a ride from the suspect around 2:40 a.m. Instead of taking her home, the suspect drove to a local area known as Lagoa Azul. The victim reported that the suspect attempted to kiss her by force and engaged in other sexual acts, but the attempted sexual intercourse was not consummated due to her resistance.

Police located the suspect hiding under a water tank at his residence. He was taken into custody and transported to the Civil Police Station. The victim and her mother also went to the station to provide statements as the Civil Police begin their investigation.
