Itajaí prepares for major student Olympics and international tennis tournament

The city of Itajaí is preparing for two significant sporting events in October. The municipal delegation, consisting of 310 members including 270 athletes and 40 coaches, is traveling to Lages to compete in the Santa Catarina Student Olympics (OLESC). The delegation represents various age groups between 8 and 17 and will participate in numerous modalities, including handball, basketball, volleyball, gymnastics, and martial arts.

Additionally, Itajaí will host the 17th edition of the Copa Santa Catarina de Tênis (ADK Juniors Cup) at the Itamirim Clube de Campo from October 25 to November 1. The tournament has been upgraded to a J100 status by World Tennis for the under-18 category and a G2 status for South American categories up to ages 14 and 16. The event is expected to attract between 400 and 450 athletes from across South America and other parts of the world, making it one of the most important tennis tournaments in Brazil.
