Italdesign enters aerospace sector with EN 9100 certification

Italdesign has obtained the EN 9100:2018 certification, a specialized industrial standard for the aerospace, space, and defense sectors. The certification, issued by the independent body Bureau Veritas, applies to the company’s two facilities located in Moncalieri and Nichelino, in the province of Turin.

This achievement marks a strategic shift for the Piedmont-based design house as it diversifies its expertise beyond the automotive industry. The EN 9100 standard is a rigorous version of ISO 9001, specifically tailored to meet the high requirements for quality, safety, and traceability necessary in aviation and defense.

The certification covers Italdesign’s activities in styling, engineering, testing, and the production of models, prototypes, and components. This allows the company to apply its long-standing automotive design and engineering skills to the development of aircraft, satellites, and defense systems.
