Italian 118 Emergency Services Celebrate 30 Years and Receive New Medical Motorcycle

The 118 emergency service in Macerata marked its 30th anniversary with a ceremony attended by civil, religious and military authorities, representatives of 16 volunteer groups and regional health assessor Paolo Calcinaro. The event highlighted the system’s evolution, the deployment of an Advanced Medical Post for large‑scale emergencies and plans for a new regional emergency‑urgency law.

In Pescara, ADRICESTA Onlus donated a Yamaha Niken 850 GT three‑wheel medical motorcycle to the local 118 service, dedicating it to the memory of Giampiero Panzino, a former emergency responder. The bike is equipped with a portable medical kit, life‑saving supplies and an automatic chest‑compression device to accelerate first‑aid delivery in traffic‑dense or crowded areas. It will be operated by qualified 118 personnel to reach patients faster while awaiting ambulance arrival.
